Our History
The Encharter team consists of several agencies in Connecticut and Massachusetts and represents most of the premier insurance companies in America today. This representation translates into offering our clients the most comprehensive coverage and competitive premiums available.
Encharter Insurance also values partnership with the communities surrounding their offices. With our Partners of Encharter Program, we team up with local small businesses to offer our mutual clients special discounts. This program also offers local businesses free online advertising, help them with social media marketing and more, so that we can grow together. We understand the importance of interdependence: the more one of us grows, the more we all grow.
Not only do our partnerships include those with local small businesses, but they also include partnerships with local charities/non-profit organizations, such as the Amherst Survival Center, The Tyler Foundation and the Lexington Education Foundation.
Encharter Insurance started with Blair, Cutting & Smith Insurance, founded in 1879 and located at 25 University Drive in Amherst, MA (next to Rafters). And since 1999, we have expanded our offices to three Massachusetts and two Connecticut offices.
In 2000, we acquired the W.G. Leavitt Insurance Agency and Miceli Insurance in Stoneham and Wilmington, MA. W.G. Leavitt Insurance Agency was founded in 1938 and Miceli Insurance, which began as a branch of W.G. Leavitt Insurance Agency, was opened in 1975. You can find these members of Encharter Insurance at 248 Main Street in Reading, MA, to where we moved in 2009.
Then in 2001, we took on Macneil Insurance, which was established in 1939 to serve the insurance needs in Lexington, MA and neighboring communities. You can find us in Lexington Center at 1666 Massachusetts Avenue.
Andrews & Murray Associates Inc. was formed in 1993 and later acquired by the Encharter Insurance Group in 2002. A year later in 2003, the Arthur G. Eheman Agency, which started over 40 years ago, became a member of Encharter. Then, O'Brien Russo Quint Insurance became a member of Encharter in 2008, after it was established over 20 years earlier in 1985. You can find these agencies at 27 Siemon Company Drive in Watertown, CT.
Starting in February 2011, we have opened several offices Connecticut in the towns of Simsbury, Farmington, and Cheshire. We are excited to continue serving the communities surrounding our preexisting offices and, now we are excited to be branching out into Connecticut's Farmington Valley and beyond.
In February 2012, the agency opened a new office in New Jersey, with the continuing goal of becoming a "premier sales organization " and that means bringing affordable and effective car insurance, home insurance, life insurance and business insurance to you, wherever you live!
