We collect and use information that we receive from your insurance applications and through correspondence and communications from you; information about your transactions with us; information that you provide to us on our web site; information from insurers we represent; information from insurance brokers; information that we receive from consumer reporting agencies; information from website usage (or traffic) including information gathered automatically about your use of our site, the websites from which you came directly to our site and those to which you go directly from our site (for example, we may use Google Analytics or similar analytical tools to monitor when and how you interact with our site); technical and device data when you visit our site or open our communications, including your browser or device type, unique device identifier, and IP address; location information, including that associated with your IP address information; information from customer lists provided by other organizations and marketing data providers; information from governmental agencies and insurance-support organizations; information relating to insurance claims, which may include medical information; information from other third parties as permitted by law; and information that is publicly available from social media and other sources. This information enables us to underwrite policies, process claims, ensure proper billing, service accounts, and develop and sell our products.
Information We Share
We share information that we collect only as required or permitted by law to insurers, industry regulators, law enforcement agencies or other governmental authorities, anti-fraud organizations, consumer reporting agencies, our affiliates, Renaissance Alliance Insurance Services, LLC (an insurance intermediary that assists us in the placement of certain lines of insurance and with transaction processing), and other third parties who assist us in processing transactions and in providing services to us; ; lienholders who have a legal interest in your policy; third party financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements in order to market products and services that we and they offer; attorneys or other authorized persons in connection with matters in litigation, as required by subpoenas and court rules and orders; our attorneys, accountants, and auditors; and such other parties as are permitted or required by law. We do not sell your nonpublic personal information without your consent.
We may use your personal information to respond to your inquiries, questions or comments if you access our web site or if you send us an email with questions or comments. We may save your questions or comments or your e-mail address for future reference.
In order to further personalize our website for you, and to collect a limited set of non-personally identifiable information about you to help manage our online advertising and promotions, we or our third party advertising providers use “web beacons” (also known as “clear gifs” and “pixel tags”), in conjunction with cookies. If you are one of our Connecticut customers, then in accordance with the Connecticut Insurance Information and Privacy Act (the “Connecticut Privacy Law”), you may access your recorded nonpublic personal information that we have collected by submitting a written request in accordance with the Connecticut Privacy Law. The written request may ask us to take one or more of the following actions: (1) inform you of the nature and substance of your recorded nonpublic personal information that we have collected; (2) send you copies of such information by mail; (3) inform you of the identity, if recorded, of those persons to whom we have disclosed your personal information within two years prior to your written request; or (4) correct, amend or delete any of your recorded nonpublic personal information.
