Get Kids to Eat Their Veggies
Do you have trouble getting your kids to eat healthy? Once kids learn that things are good for you, they seem to believe they can’t taste good too. There is some bargaining to be done, such as “no dessert until you eat your carrots” but before you continue with the gimmicks, check out these tricks. These may help ensure the kids aren’t skipping all the fixings this Thanksgiving.
- Smoothies – the most obvious and, I think, most delicious. Throw in some bananas, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries (really any berry!) with some fruit juice and ice and your kids will think its dessert. Even you will feel like you should be lying on a beach as you indulge in this cup of health.
- Pasta sauce – try adding vegetables like mushrooms, carrots or celery to tomato sauce – more flavor and more nutrition.
- Play time – make the vegetables look fun. This might be more work in the beginning until your kids actually acquire a taste for the vegetable beyond their disguise. Try cutting cucumber circles into stars, or arranging carrot sticks on the plate like a stick person complete with salad dressing accessories, or even make a game out of catching grapes in your mouth.
