Those of us that don’t have pools envy you, but the one thing we don’t envy is all the hard work that goes into maintaining your pool throughout the summer. Before you dive-in to pool maintenance (pun-intended), remember to make sure your insurance company is aware you have a pool and you have the coverage you need on your Home Insurance policy. If you recently put in a pool, definitely give your insurance company a call to update your home insurance. Your company may not insure your home with a pool or they may have certain restrictions. It’s important to be aware of those rules and restrictions in the event that an accident occurs.
Now that we have shared some helpful insurance reminders, we thought it would be helpful to give you some reminders on the pool maintenance tips you should be implementing throughout the summer.
- Check pool chemistry often, making sure you don’t allow the pH level to get above 8.0.
- Clean the skimmer in the pool pump frequently.
- Add chemicals after the sun has set.
- Make sure you run your pumps enough.
- Brush down the walls and tile to help prevent algae
build-up.
Good luck and enjoy your swimming pool this summer! If you’re still worried about your New Jersey Homeowners insurance coverage for your pool, it might be a good idea to ask your agent about the extra liability an Umbrella Insurance policy can give you. Then you could really float around and relax, knowing you have plenty of coverage if anything should happen.
