Valentine’s Day. Great outfit – check. Combed hair – check. Gift – check. Breath mints – check. There is only one thing that you forgot- your car is in utter disarray. Do not be a fool on Valentine’s Day, remember to keep your chariot in tip-top shape for your lovely date.
Tires – In New England, February is known for Valentine’s Day and icy roads. Do not fall victim to both this February 14th. Check your tires before hand – make sure they are in good winter driving condition and properly inflated. If you are not sure, take them to a mechanic to check. Better safe than sorry!
Clean Up – This means inside and out. Those French fries jammed in the glove box from November have got to go. This is not that measly kind of cleaning either, this means hands and knees with a portable vacuum. Gross, yes, but not as devastating as your date sitting on a half melted ice cream
Hold Off the Wine – While a nice Chianti might go well with dinner, a few too many glasses and you will be in trouble. Your date will not appreciate bailing you out of the slammer after you receive a DUI. Be safe and smart.
Plan Ahead – Spontaneity can be quite romantic, but not when you are rushing so you do not lose your dinner reservation. Spend time beforehand to go over a schedule and ensure that you will have ample time to get to all of your romantic destinations. Sitting around might be boring at the time but whiplash will just kill the mood.
These tips cannot ensure a perfect date, but at least a great drive! Valentine’s Day is a time to enjoy one another’s company and you can’t do that if you are stuck on the side of the road changing a flat tire because you didn’t do your homework.
